Cutout / Anabta / 2018

With a beak full of mud, the rooster has to find a way to clean his face and so searches for help in the most amusing of places, based on Cuban folklore.

A 14 day Cutout animation workshop in the village of Anabta – Tulkarem, working with young girls, ages 12 – 16, Teaching them the basics of animation, and walking them through the process of creating an animated film, from storyboarding, to creating puppets and backgrounds, to shooting and animating, to sound recording and music.

For the animation, the team created rigged cutout puppets from the original illustrations, and used a three layer multiplane camera to create parallax movement.
